Waimea Youth Center Business Plan - The purpose of this document is to help future teams apply for grants. It was Ulumau Series II that realized the center could not obtain any funding without some sort of plan. The goal of this effort was to describe how much money was needed and why, who would be responsible for the effort, how the organization would be self-sustaining over time, what outcomes would result, etc. Our group conducted a survey and built off the research from the previous groups to narrow down the parameters. We tried to come up with a viable business model that could be funded by local grant organizations. We determined the next step would be to rally a group of “champions” in the community who would endorse the project and contribute to a funding proposal. Some parameters of the business plan would then be determined based on which institutions were involved and/or what the terms or specific requirements of the grant application were. Toward the end, some promising discussions had taken place with YMCA of Waimea, so the plan leans toward helping make that happen.
